The end of the 19th century saw the Chesapeake Bay region in a mad rush to exploit the "white gold" of the exploding oyster industry. The greed coupled with the lack of effective oversight led to an epidemic of violence that lasted for decades and an environmental catastrophe that is still being felt today. Presented by Catherine Morrill of the Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park.
