Experience an engaging book discussion and writing workshop centered around this year's One Maryland One Book pick, What Storm, What Thunder, a poignant exploration of community resilience in the wake of tragedy. Participants will delve into the themes of restorative futures while sharing and workshopping their own poetry, short stories, and other writings that reflect the hope and healing found within this narrative. Whether you're a seasoned writer or just starting out, this workshop invites you to connect, create, and inspire through the power of storytelling.

In "What Storm, What Thunder," Myriam J. A. Chancy weaves a poignant tapestry of lives intertwined by the catastrophic 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Through the voices of various characters, the novel explores themes of loss, resilience, and the complex realities of life in the aftermath of disaster. With lyrical prose, Chancy captures the emotional and physical upheaval of a nation while illuminating the strength of the human spirit in the face of adversity.

Free copies of the book will be available at all branches September 3rd (while supplies last).
