Listen to the book Tar Beach by Faith Ringgold and use her illustrations as inspiration for your own artwork.  Using paint, paper, and a little shimmer, we will create our own quilt inspired art.

Faith Ringgold is a famous African American artist who is best known for her story quilts.  She turned one of these into the book Tar Beach, which was a Caldecott Honor book in 1998.
