Listen to the book Tar Beach by Faith Ringgold and use her illustrations as inspiration for your own artwork.  Sign up for a take-home kit and using paint, paper, and a little shimmer, we will create our own quilt inspired art.

Faith Ringgold is a famous African American artist who is best known for her story quilts.  She turned one of these into the book Tar Beach, which was a Caldecott Honor book in 1998.

When registering for this event please indicate which library branch, Centreville or Kent Island, you prefer to pick your kit up from. You will be notified when your kit is ready for pickup at your requested branch.  All kits will be ready for pickup by the program date.  Video tutorials will be posted to the Queen Anne’s County Library Facebook and YouTube channels the morning of the program event.  Each kit will also contain a printed instruction sheet with directions on finding the video tutorials. If you have any questions, please call the library at 410-758-0980 or 410-643-8161 or email us at askqacl@qaclibrary.org
