For ages 7-11 years. We all live really close to the Chesapeake Bay and many creeks, streams, and rivers that wind their way to the Bay. In this kit, we will discover more about the Chesapeake Bay and the health of the water. Materials are included to test the turbidity (clarity) and pH of real and simulated water samples, as well as look at the oxygen needs of some of our favorite Bay animals. Kits also include a watercolor craft to be made with brackish water—a mix of salt and fresh water, just like the Bay!

When registering for this event please indicate which library branch, Centreville or Kent Island, you prefer to pick your kit up from.  You will be notified when your kit is ready for pickup at your requested branch.  All kits will be ready for pickup by the program date.  Kits will be held for 2 weeks from program start date. Video tutorials will be posted to the Queen Anne’s County Library Facebook and YouTube channels the morning of the program event.  Each kit will also contain a printed instruction sheet with directions on finding the video tutorials. If you have any questions, please call the library at 410-758-0980 or 410-643-8161 or email us at askqacl@qaclibrary.org
